This has been seriously one of the funniest paranormal books I've ever read. It's got such great humor that I found myself giggling every chapter, turning pages, waiting for more.
Paranormalcy mesmerized me. It's magical, and it really is because it just doesn't deal with the usual focus on one creature (or in the case of Twilight, two) throughout the whole book. This book has it all.
What is it with paranormal heroines that make them so stubborn and headstrong yet so loveable? I loved Evie's humor and found her a main character which I could understand– one I wouldn't get too frustrated or annoyed with. Someone kinda like Meghan from The Iron Fey series. Amazing and totally bad-ass. Just how reader's like 'em. I also loved how even though she was all fearless and fights like a man, she's also got a girly side to her. She loves watching this TV series called Easton Heights and wishes she can go to high school.
Okay, now onto my fave part of every review: THE GUY. Or guys in this case:
Lend!! Fell in love with him from the very mere-mention of him. Kinda frustrating how we don't see his real form too much. Oh well, he's gorgeous! and love the humor :) Reth was okay, someone who's kinda annoying but very protective...and kinda sexy. But I wasn't too attracted to him, I'd have to say. He seemed kinda psychotic at first.
LISH! I love how there's a mermaid at the IPCA (International Paranormal Containment Agency) and love the way she talks through a computer. Which reminds me: Oh Bleep! (trust me, you'll be hearing this a LOT throughout the book ;D)
I love the whole story through the book: there's something the IPCA is not telling her and at the same time, something is killing paranormal creatures everywhere. It's a huge mystery and all leads to a twisted ending.
This book reminded me of The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare for two reasons. One, it's hilarious with smart remarks and total bad-ass characters. Two, the mix of paranormal creatures is amazing. I learnt WAY more about shape-shifters, vampires, faeries etc. from reading these two series because of the way the story progresses and the creatures' involvement in the books. Loved it!
Paranormalcy left me absolutely RAVENOUS for more. It's exactly like oreos. Once you have one, you just can't stop! Kiersten White creates this world of paranormal creatures where everything is flawed to perfection. Humorous, mysterious and crush-worthy, Paranormalcy had grabbed my interest from the title alone. Can't wait to get my hands on book 2, Supernaturally, so I can find out what happens with Evie and Lend! (mostly Lend!)

Great review, very well-written!! I actually have this book on my shelf, but haven't read it yet (which is so lame, since it sounds freakin' awesome!). I love paranormal books that can make me laugh, perhaps I'll read this next. =)

We didn't love it as much as you did, but we did find the author's voice hysterical, and the idea fairly original. We were most intrigued by Vivian and can't wait to read more about her story.
